Hi everyone,

As many of you know Danielle and I have left Chile and are know in Cajamarca, Peru at the Bible College here. We had an amazingly blessed last couple of weeks in Chile, and our going away party at CC Kaleo was very special for us. We love the family we have in Chile, and will miss them dearly. We have made friendships that will last a lifetime, and we hope to see our friends again soon. At the party, we received a banner with notes from our brothers and sisters that was a blessing and very encouraging. To look around the room and see all our family, and people we love was just special. Ricky brought us up to pray over us and that was a blessing, then before we ate I wanted to say thank you and that we have been so blessed, but they wouldn’t let me do it in English. With humility from me, and love from everyone else, it went very well. Hopefully, Danielle and I were at least close to being the blessing to our brothers and sisters in Chile, as they were to us.

The next morning we were on our way, and after a 3 hour flight, a twenty one hour bus ride, a two day stay in Lima, and another 16 hour bus ride we finally made it to Cajamarca. Cajamarca is as beautiful as we have been told. The first couple of nights I was having trouble sleeping because I was so excited for what the next day would bring. Danielle and I believe that God is doing a great work here in Cajamarca that will bring forth fruit all over South America, and that we are called to be a small part in what God is doing here. To be able to build, serve, study, and help here is just an amazing blessing. We thank God, and feel fortunate just be here. When we pulled up to the campus with Bible College director John Bonner, we just thanked him for letting us come here. Unfortunately, Danielle came down with a severe case of altitude sickness, but after a few days she felt much better. Praise the Lord.

We are nestled in a valley among the Andes mountains at about 9,000 ft. The view of the valley is just amazing, and there are cows, donkeys, and sheep all around us. It is truly a country atmosphere, only very Peruvian in style. The other day, I saw two small children trotting down the road on a donkey with two jugs of milk tied to each side of the donkey. So different, and so cool. We also are having our first experiences with “Combis.” They are Peruvian public transit in the form of vans stuffed full of people, with the door often wide open and people hanging off the side. When we had 25 people stuffed in a van with a max occupancy of 15 and the van stopped to pick up 3 or 4 more passengers, I had to just laugh and tell our friends, “I love Combis!”

Classes here start on Monday, and we have full days all week. Our days start at 6 am as we go on a group prayer walk, we then have breakfast, group devotions, class, lunch,”Chuck Tracks”, practical service (cooking for Danielle, Construction for me), dinner, and more. I love it. To have full days with Bible studies and serving the Lord is just amazing. The students are a mix of Peruvian, American, and people from all over Latin America including Belize and Brazil. We also have a few families from the states serving here as staff/missionaries that have been a big blessing to Danielle and I. Overall, God is good as always.

Thank you all so much for all of your prayers, love and support. Your prayers are especially appreciated as God is doing a great work here in Peru, but as is the case when God’s people take up His work, there is always opposition. So, thank you again!.

We do have a few prayer requests:

The language: Please continue to pray that Danielle and I would be able to learn Spanish. We are getting better each day, but we won’t to be able to communicate clearly, and be more helpful and the language is a big part of that.

Walking with the Lord: Please pray that Danielle and I, and all the people here would have close walks to the Lord, hearing from Him, among the busy days. Also, that the Lord would strengthen us and help to study and serve with a spirit of love, service, and grace.

The Bible College: Please pray that the construction work would continue and that the Lord would send laborers and provide.

Wisdom: Living in a different country and trying to make life decisions can be tough. Actually, day to day decisions cane me tough too. Please pray that we would be walking in wisdom and fear of the Lord.
